Every litter planned takes thought and consideration, when we decide we are going to have a litter we do several things; Our first thing we do is call our vet and make an initial appointment to have our dam examined and routine lab work performed. Secondly, we strategically research our previous litter development with that female and make any notations as to which desired and undesired (if any) traits or issues arose. We will see which applications we have received that would be potentially on the interest list for any upcoming litters and make contact and start to delegate puppy preference and priority. If you are just beginning your search for a Weimaraner puppy and need assistance please email us. We would love to hear from you and help in anyway possible, it's not too often we have litters available after they whelp but at the very least we can build a relationship and educate you on the do's and don'ts when researching a breeder. If you would like more information about our upcoming litter or to be place on the casual waiting list please email us today for a puppy questionnaire.
*Disclaimer - there has been a rise of multiple viruses in the California area. I have talked with several families regarding an outbreak of Distemper and Parvo virus, it is believed that a family in Southern California is brokering puppies and are having them brought in from Mexico! Please do your homework when researching a breeder! There is NO REASON to buy a puppy from someone who can't provide the following to you as the consumer:
*Meet Sire and Dam on premises
*Allow you to see the environment where the puppies and parents live
*Provide documented health records including but not limited to: Genetic health clearances, vaccination records, history of vet exams, records of tail docking and dew claw removal (note: Weimaraners are to have docked tails, and their dew claws removed, this is not only cosmetic reasons but also for the health/safety of the breed and part of their standards)
*Provide references from previous puppy owners and their family veterinarians
*Provide registration applications (AKC, UKC, Etc...) I've heard of breeders/brokers trying to convince the potential adopters that "AKC is too expensive, or not necessary" - That is a very false statement! Registering a litter through AKC averages out to be $10 per puppy and $30 to transfer ownership.
NEVER MEET ANYONE IN A PUBLIC PLACE!
If they are not willing to invite you into their home then walk away! This will save you $$$$$$$ and HEARTACHE.
